It's fast in zero conditions (compared to it's rating) and especially in 16-20 knots of wind. It makes good way to weather, and it's a good boat on tight spinnaker reaches in heavier weather too. 6 knots of wind, and old waves (bigger waves than the wind) isn't that nice but it's tough for everyone to sail in those conditions.
What are your main issues with the trim?

Jenne, do you use the SW handicap system? I tried to find out how the FE83 rates against other boats in that system, but the Finn Express SW number is missing from this list
http://www.zeilersforum.nl/mediawiki//i ... SW_waarden
If you want to compare how FE83 is rated against other boats in the Finnish LYS rating system, the list is here
http://www.avomeripurjehtijat.fi/index. ... Itemid=329
LYS number 1,08 means that you multiple the sailed time by 1,08. This is a bit different than in other systems, in our system bigger number means faster boat.

When comparing those SW-handicap numbers, one can see, that there is number 103 for finnish H-boat. In finnish LYS-handicap FE-83 have that same number, as H-boat, that is 1.08, so that 103 would be as "startnumber" in your system. On the other hand, in Sweden FE-83 has local LYS-number 1.06. It means, that FE is as fast as Contessa28 in SW-handicap. Perhaps we are faster than Swedes

In German yardstick system FE83 has number 107 and H-boat 106. This means that H is slightly faster in Germany.

In Holland we use SW like you use the yardstick.
The number we use for my boat is 103
And Harald asked me what was my main issue about the trim of my sails.
The main issue is that downwind i lose speed against the other boats we sail on very small lake and sometimes the distance is to short to raise the spinnaker specially with little wind.
But when the wind is strong and i trim good i can pass bigger boats.
When we have 4 or 5 beaufort it is very easy to reach 6 knts sometimes i reach 7 or 7.3 knts
But i have old sails and i own the boat since Januari this year so i am still
learning.
Do you think this is the only Finn Express 83 in Holland?
But thank you all for the information

Make sure that your main sheet is long enough. Originally it is usually too short. It needs to be so long that the boom can hit the stays. Of course the main sail leans then against the spreaders and stays which looks ugly, but it's faster.
It is also important to get the stern of the boat as light as possible in light wind. Clean all the compartments in the stern, move all anchors and other heavy things closer to the keel. Move also the crew weight away from the stern as much as possible.

ok i shall remove the anchor mayby i winn some speed then i hope so and i have the watertank under the bed in the stern is it a good idee to pump out the water before the race?
Wednesday we have the last race off the season (we had 15 races)and with a little bit of luck i have a chance to come in the top 3
Thank you for your help

It's definitely benificial to sail a light ship with a smooth bottom. Keep especially the ends of the boat light. Empty the watertank, and clean out all unnecessary spare parts, tools and such.
Do keep in mind however, that some equipment might be required for safety or other reasons. We keep our both anchors along with chain under the port bunk, all extra ropes live there too. I woldn't leave extuingishers ashore either.
Good luck!

Yesterday we should have the last race but the wind was too strong and there was chance of lightning.
And there also sail small boats like Lasers and O jol and more open boats.
So they cancelled the race and next week wednesday we come together and then i hear where i ended with mi Finn Express.
Ofcourse i am very curious but i think i have a good result overall.
In 2014 i sailed with a Dehler Sprinta 70 and in 2014 i ended 9 ,but with this boat i am faster .
We sail 17 races on Wednesday evening and 3 where cancelled because off the weather and i missed one race because i was on holiday.
I finished 2 times on the second place and one time third.
But next week i let you know

Hello Yesterday i bacame 3 rd overall so that is a very good result for an amateur like me.
I am very glad with this result
3 drd from 41 boats!!
Maybe next year i can get higher with all the good tips i get from Finnland.
Thank you for that.
In may the races gonna start again next year.
