Re: HLKK 22-08-24 R8

The wind expectations were poor - like 2 m/s from the SW. As expected, the racecourse was 5, and when we saw that the flagged "Race Committee vessel" buoy was missing, it became clear that the race would be shortened to one lap. The red flag was an excellent idea from the RC because the fi...

Re: HLKK 22-08-17 R7

The forecast was SW 8(12) kts wind, backing to S and dying to 2 kts by 2100. We expected racecourse 5 and a possible shortening. During the whole race, the wind was as forecasted. We started from the middle of the line, already preparing for the spinnaker, and were the first boat to cross the line. ...

Re: HLKK 15.6.2022

The wind was W 7(12) m/s. Race track 4 red (counter-clockwise) - rounding Melkki from S to N. Pretty good route for the given conditions - thank you, Petri. Very gusty, especially close to the land. Wind up to 25 knots S of Melkki with waves - noticeable rolling. We went out with the full main and G...

Re: Kosteus kölin takaosassa

Solid laminate has an intense yellow color. The white-ish border around the black filler on the right side of the patch is a delaminated area. It hasn't been removed before the "repair", probably because they realized that it would make a hole in the hull and filling would become more diff...

Re: Kosteus kölin takaosassa

Sorry for the late reply, I saw it only now. It looks like delamination of the hull. Likely as a result of running aground (*). The delaminated material was removed and filled with some filler - it restores the hull shape, but not the construction strength. As other people wrote, there is a risk tha...

Re: FE83 FR number for 2022

Yes, the VPP keeps improving all the time. I am wondering, - we've been critical about the fairness of our FR and nearly every time we get it lower, all closest competitors get it lower, too, - if all handicaps were changing proportionally, it would have been equal to no change - this is not exactly...

FE83 FR number for 2022

Hi,

The FE83 FinRating value is 0,8324 for 2022 and it was 0,838 in 2021. The FR formula described in paragraph 6.1 of FinRating-sääntö 2021 remains in force since the rules haven't changed. Hence, the ORC data for FE83 has changed - is my assumption correct? Does anyone have a clear insight?

Re: Peräharuksen nostohärpätin

I used a tapered glass-fiber batten by Bluestreak (Australia), stiffness OR1 or OR2 (don't remember which one exactly). The cheap generic battens from the nearest sailing store are too soft. I put the batten inside a heat-shrink sleeve to protect it from the UV and to protect hands from the fiber-gl...

I have replaced the top batten in every mainsail I have or had on FE83. Consider replacing the top batten in the Genoa if you have it.

Yes, Captain, it's obvious.

We need to understand what's needed. How to mark a racecourse? How to read what RaceQs shows? There are youtube videos for all of that, actually.

Why not?.. Need a GPS track which I haven't used before tho. Will see if I have one around or if I could generate a fake one.
