Possible ORC Estonian championship for small boats in Hiiumaa 20-22 August.

Hi, There are talks for moving Estonian ORC championships for boats with under 8,41 CDL to Hiiumaa in 20-22 August 2021. We are definitely going as we have participated in this regatta for 2 years and it has a good mix of competetive racing and fun after racing (well organised entertainment after ra...

Re: Rudder plain bearings

Today I decided to go for it and took metal saw sheet and made a longitudinal cut in bearing and then used chisel to break bearing longitudinally. After that, some poking with a wooden stich and came out really easy (hammer was not even needed for stick). Bearings are ofcourse semi-destroyed, but th...

Rudder plain bearings

I need to replace my rudder plain bearings, since old ones are getting too large and rudder stock can move too much. However it seems that they are glued inside helmsport pipe. Is there a good way to get old ones out, or I just need to brute force it?

Re: Black FE83?

Deck will stay white (might repaint, or leave as it is for now), I am planning to paint sides of hull black. There are few boats with black sides here in Estonia, looks really nice. However they are all relatively new boats. My biggest concern is if extreme thermal cylcing may cause some damage to h...

Black FE83?

I was wondering, is there any FE83 painted black (or any dark color)? Our team really likes the idea of painting our topside hull black, but I was worried that more extreme thermal cycling might cause some problems.

Baltic Offshore Week 2020

Just to let you know, that BOW has ORC D group again for small boats with CDL under 7. It is also open Estonian Championship (for other groups it is FIN/EST combined championship). If anybody is interested to come, after 31. July, entry fee will increase. FE83 Lagle III is definitely going. http://b...

Re: New shrouds, looking recommendations

Cage, I have hole terminal in turnbuckle end and T-terminal in upper end. Replacing the T-terminal mast backing plate is good advice, didnt even think about it myself, but now seems very logical. While I know about the benefits of dyform, I am more interested if FENE hull is stiff enough to make the...

New shrouds, looking recommendations

Hi, Since one of my upper shroud has scratch and needs to be replaced, I am considering going for Dyform. Idea is to replace all 4 shrouds. And now I am looking for a Finnish company that can do it if I send them measurements. I think it would be a simpler solution than finding a way to get it done ...

Re: FinLYS-sääntö 2017

I would say its a step in right direction. At least in Estonia. Estonian offshore committee decided to throw out ESTLYS in Moonsund regatta, witch is biggest offshore sailing regatta in Estonia. ESTLYS use in club regattas will be decided within clubs.

70 dB should be as loud as vacuum cleaner. I was considering buying this, but decided to fix my Wallas 2000, since I like it quiet while sleeping. Got it working, but since ignition coil timer is toast, I will have to connect it to manual pressure switch. I have not yet tested it on the boat, but it...

Another question: Since we are looking for used racing sails, can you tell me what can be the maximum P and E for a mainsail. I don`t mean class rules, but what would be the maximum I can fit. There is one mainsail for sale in Estonia, but it is few cm over-sized. So I was thinking to buy it, if I c...

Thanks Unfortunately I can not start doing prep work yet, because my boat is in Porvoo. So my plan is to sail her to Estonia in spring as soon as ice is gone. And then lift her out and start working. Has anybody used different profile than 65a010? I was thinking about 0012, however I do not want to ...

Are there any pictures of serious racing FE83 deck layout?

Also I was thinking, that if I must glass over and fill the low spots on my keel anyway, it would be good idea to profile it also. Can someone recommend what profile I would need to use to make templates?

Ok, I was thinking about using Polaris medium genoa as G3.
Do you sheet G3 inside or outside of shrouds?

I noticed your victory at BOW 2011, Edasi is by far the fastest Polaris in Estonia, or was, they moved to 34.7
Your win there is probably main reason I started to look into FE83.

What would FE genoa3 measurements be? And is tuff-luff allowed in class rules?
